We are so excited to have Sue Heinz here with us in October!!!

Sue’s Passion is teaching, and she brings to each of her classes a Fine Arts and Education background, over 25+ years of quilting eperience, a sense of humor, design epertise and a commitment to helping each of her students reasch new levels of quilting excellence.  She has authored five books, each brimming with fresh design ideas for free motion quilting, patented several innovative marking tools, and designed some nifty free-motion rulers – all to delight, intrigue and inspire.  In addition teaching at guilds and national shows across the country, Sue has been featured on online TV and national and international publications.

This weekend will be jammed packed with drawing classes developed to teach you some amazing free-motion skills!  All classes with the exception of the binding class, are drawing classes.   

The fun begins at 1:00 on Friday with Sashing that Sizzles class.  With this class you can turn up the heat on your next quilt with some sizzling new sashing!  Sue’s stunning and unique designs complement a wide variety of quilt styles.  Also included, a gotta-have, no math technique that guarantees precision conver turns.  This class will end at 4:00.

 

Saturday will be an all day class beginning at 9:00 and concluding at 4:00 with One and Done – A New Approach to Custom Quilting.  Finding just the right combination of quilting designs to balance out a quilt can take time and effort.  Sue will unlock her secret of using just one shape to fill an entire quilt with a variety of unique and harmonious blocks, border, grids, triangles, linear and circular designs, plus more.  Simple shape, stunning results that are easy to master!

Sunday is  funday with Caffinate Quilting beginning at 9:00 and concluding at 4:00.  Sue has brewed up energy-infused, organic designs that will look stunning on your next quilt!  Based on her book by the same name, this class will leave you filled to the brim with new grid, block and linear designs that are easy to master – especially with Sue’s one-on-one teach style.

The last class for the weekend will be on Monday morning 8:30 – noon and will be Binding Perfection.  This class is limited to 10 and therefore, only available to the persons attending the retreat.  Sue will improve your binding skills by showing you a technique that is pin-free, math-free, and guarantees show-quallity results.  Once that technique is firmly in your mind, she will then tke you on a journey from Bland to Grand as she demonstrates innovatieve ideas for incorporating in your bindings: lace, beads, zippers, split bindings and more.  

Lunch will be provided each day for all attendees.  The evening meal will be provided for all those attending retreat.  Feel free to bring snacks and your beverage of choice.  Tea, coffee and water will be provided.

All attendees will need a sketch pad and your writing tool of choice.  Retreat attendees will need to bring a sewing machine for the binding class on Monday.  Handouts for each class will be provided to each student and a kit for the binding class will also be provided. 

The cost of the weekend will be $495.00 for the full retreat stay and $360 for the daily attendance.  Ten spaces are available for the retreat weekend, only four places are available for the daily attendance.  If you are booking for the retreat, a $250.00 deposit is required.  You will be invoiced in September for the balance.  Sue’s books and tools will be available for purchase at the retreat.  If you plan to attend daily (drive in each day, no overnight stay) the total fee is required at the time of booking.  Afterpay is available at checkout.
